A Chinese company has launched the first 9 satellites in Low Earth orbit that will be used for autonomous cars, Reuters reports.
China's Zhejiang Geely Holding Group launched its first satellite on Wednesday. The company has sent 9 satellites into low Earth orbit to build a more accurate navigation network for autonomous vehicles.
Gee-Sat 1 Satellites, designed and manufactured in China, were launched from the Xichang Satellite Launch Center in southwestern Sichuan Province. Geely said it expects another 63 satellites to be in orbit by 2025 and that it plans to have a "cancellation" of 240 satellites eventually.
